Terms of Service for HandyMen NYC
Please read these Terms of Service ("Terms") carefully before using the HandyMen NYC website (https://handymennyc.com) or engaging our services. By using our website or services, you agree to be bound by these Terms.
1. Services
HandyMen NYC provides handyman, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and general home repair and renovation services in New York City. All services are performed by licensed, insured professionals in accordance with applicable NYC building codes and regulations.
2. Estimates and Pricing
- All estimates are provided free of charge and are valid for 30 days unless otherwise stated.
- Written estimates detail the scope of work, materials, labor, and total cost. Work does not begin until you approve the estimate.
- If additional work beyond the original scope is discovered during a project, we will notify you and provide a revised estimate before proceeding.
- Emergency and after-hours services may carry premium rates, which will be disclosed before work begins.
3. Scheduling and Access
- Appointments are scheduled based on mutual availability. We make every effort to arrive within the scheduled window.
- You are responsible for providing safe, reasonable access to the work area.
- If you need to reschedule, please provide at least 24 hours' notice. Repeated no-shows may result in a trip charge.
- For co-op and condo buildings, you are responsible for obtaining any required building approvals and elevator reservations before the scheduled work date.
4. Payment Terms
- Payment is due upon completion of work unless alternative terms are agreed upon in writing.
- For larger projects, a deposit of up to 50% may be required before work begins, with the balance due upon completion.
- We accept cash, check, credit card, and electronic payment methods.
- Outstanding balances past 30 days may be subject to a late fee of 1.5% per month.
5. Warranties
- All work performed by HandyMen NYC is backed by a minimum one-year workmanship warranty from the date of completion.
- Specific services may carry extended warranties (e.g., two years for bathroom and kitchen renovations). Warranty details are provided with each estimate.
- Manufacturer warranties on parts and materials apply separately and are passed through to you.
- Warranties do not cover damage caused by misuse, neglect, acts of nature, or unauthorized modifications to our work.
6. Permits and Inspections
When NYC Department of Buildings (DOB) permits are required, HandyMen NYC will handle the permit application and coordinate inspections on your behalf. Permit fees are included in the project estimate. You acknowledge that permit processing times are controlled by the DOB and may affect project timelines.
7. Liability and Insurance
- HandyMen NYC carries full general liability insurance and workers' compensation coverage.
- Certificates of insurance are available upon request and can be provided to building management or co-op boards.
- Our total liability for any claim arising from our services shall not exceed the total amount paid for the specific service giving rise to the claim.
- We are not liable for pre-existing conditions, concealed defects, or issues not included in the scope of work.
8. Cancellation Policy
- You may cancel a scheduled service with at least 24 hours' notice at no charge.
- Cancellations with less than 24 hours' notice may be subject to a cancellation fee.
- For larger projects with deposits, cancellation terms are specified in the project agreement.
